The Adamawa/ Taraba Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) seized raw donkey skin, petrol and other smuggled goods worth N19.4 million in August.

The Comptroller in-charge of the command, Alhaji Salisu Kazaure, announced this while addressing newsmen in Yola on Thursday.

He said that the siezed items included 200 pieces of raw donkey skin and vehicle used in conveying the smuggled commodity, as well as 127 bags of 50kg foreign rice.

According to him, the other seized item is 12,355 litres of petrol inside jerry cans.

“The command will not rest on its oars in the fight against smuggling being perpetrated along the waterways and on land,” he said.

He praised the headquarters of NCS for prompt logistics support which, he said, enabled officers and men of the command to perform optimally.

“We will sustain collaboration with sister agencies and relevant stakeholders to check this ugly trend,” he added.
