The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is set to promote physical fitness among its personnel with the 2023 Annual 10 Kilometres Walk/Jog Exercise, leading to a temporary traffic restriction along the Nyanya-Keffi Expressway on Saturday.
Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF, disclosed this in a statement released on a Friday in Abuja.
The Walk/Jog Exercise, scheduled to commence at 6:00am, will start at NAF Base’s Asokoro Football Field and proceed to Defence Headquarters Roundabout in Abuja.
From there, participants will travel along Keffi Road, passing through Kugbo Furniture and Pedestrian Bridge, then reach the Army Checkpoint at Kugbo, before returning to the Base via the NAF Valley Second Gate.
During the event, partial traffic restrictions will be enforced along these routes to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the exercise. Simultaneously, similar exercises are planned at various NAF Bases across the nation, covering major routes and areas around these bases.
NAF has taken comprehensive safety measures to guarantee the event proceeds without any issues.
In light of the temporary traffic disruptions, the general public, particularly motorists and residents in the vicinity of AYA, Asokoro, and communities around NAF Bases nationwide, are urged not to be alarmed and to proceed with their daily routines as usual.
This exercise is a testament to NAF’s commitment to maintaining the physical fitness of its personnel while ensuring minimal disruption to the public.
